Dinner on Long Island

Last night I had the unreal opportunity to have dinner at Jake Burton's house in Long Island thanks to the guys at Channel Islands Surfboards.  It was pretty surreal being able to casually talk with the guy that helped build the snowboard industry.  Jake is one of the most down to earth guys I've ever met and it was really cool to see a guy that's accomplished so much be so humble.  Among other guests like snowboard legend Todd Richards, (hilarious, trust me), and 10 time world champ Kelly Slater, (one of the coolest guys you'll ever meet), Bob McKnight the CEO of Quiksilver was there enjoying the evening as well.  I've been able to hang out with Bob all week and he has to be one of the most legit surfers I've ever hung out with.  He's like a grom in a grown man's body just stoked to surf, watch surfing, or even just tall about surfing. 
I think the best part of the whole night was seeing that these four guys that have helped build our industry far beyond anyone's wildest dreams, still all love what they do.  Not only do they love what they do, but they love and appreciate everyone that supports them from the fans to the consumers.  It's guys like them that make me stoked to be a surfer and snowboarder.
